Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/09/26, 15:00-17:00, Library meeting room, Present:K.Nishikawa(Chairman),T.Ishii,S.B.Kim,V.Tumakov,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida, A.Sakai,T.Inagaki,M.Sakuda(KEK),M.Kohama,S.Echigo,Kitamura(Kobe), D.Koo(SNUofEd),H.Jang,H.Lee(Chonnam),M.Nakamura,(Niigata), S.Kadowaki,T.Inada(SUT) (1) Experimental Hall (Nishikawa) Today, KEK-ICRR-Kajima had the meeting on the experimental hall. Most of the time was spent on the schedule of the 1kton detector. (2) Muon (Ishii) *The cosmic-ray test of the long chambers is going well. UCI does the mock-up test on the installation method. *Spec document for the structure (Muon/LG/SCIFI) is almost finished. (3) SCIFI *Echigo/Kitamura finish 1/3 of the fiber bundle. Kadowaki works on EL driver modules. Mine wants to have the meeting on the beam test next Tuesday. SCIFI, VETO, LG and DAQ should come. *Kim designed the slit and the linear guide to test the fiber quality. *A.Suzuki reports that 39 sheets are done at Kobe. The loss of fibers is 8%. He and Sakuda started the design of the gain monitor using Sr91 source. SBK/Suzuki/Sakuda agreed that we need a straight aluminum plate to assure the straightness of the fiber sheet when it is glued. (4) VETO Ohyama/Nakamura explained the layout of the trigger counters at the beam test. They are collecting modules for the beam test. They are asked to present the results (efficiency and time resolutions) with H1161/NIM amplifier at HV=2000V next week. Nishikawa asked them to have a VETO regular meeting. (5) DAQ Sakai showed status of the beam timing signal from the accelerator group. They prepare two signal cables: one is the trigger signal to the Horn charge and the other is used to trigger the horn. Our detector signal is made from the second signal. (6) Beam Monitor Maruyama explains the beam time schedule. *Muon monitor beam test at Kyoto on Nov.10-14, to expose it in a high intensity pulsed beam (10**10 electrons in 1 micro-sec). *Pion monitor beam test at Kyoto on Nov 10-14, to test the performance with the same beam. They plan another beam test on Dec 1-5. ---------------- Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/09/19, 15:00-17:00, R203 in Bldg.2, Present:K.Nishikawa(Chairman),K.Nakamura,T.Ishii,S.B.Kim,T.Kobayashi,A.Sakai, S.Mine,M.Sakuda(KEK),S.Echigo,M.Kohama(Kobe),D.Koo(SNUofEd),H.Lee(Chonnam), S.Kadowaki(SUT),M.Nakamura,Kenmochi(Niigata), R.Wilkes(UW) (1) Experimental hall (Nishikawa) The construction of the guide wall (24mDia) for the experimental hall began. *We must supply Kajima Co with the gauge plates when they build the basement floor in Feb. *Layout of the electronics hut, water purification hut, gas circulation room etc at the GND floor is shown. *We must design the installation next Fall assuming only 1 crane with max load of 200kg. ->Muon, SCIFI. (2)Muon (Ishii) Long chambers seem to have high gain. Efficiency of short chambers is good to >99%. Ishii is asked to reconsider the design of the racks above the iron filter so that a crane with max load of 200kg can do the work. (3) LG (Kobayashi) They try to fix the missing bit problem? of the FASTBUS ADCs. (4) SCIFI *Mine showed the time schedule (10/28-11/1) and shift members (many Kobe students are welcome). Everything is on schedule. *Kim showed the drawing of the quality check system consisting of the photo- diode, a linear guide and EL plate. *Sakuda finds that the straightness of the fiber ribbon (40cmx200cmx(xx)) is not maintained unless the straight gauge is used when the ribbon is glued. We use the similar straight edge that Nagoya group did. *Wilkes comments that the polishing machine will be built in 6 months or so. He is waiting for the cost estimation and report from the engineer. (5) Beam monitor Maruyama reported the result of the HV dependence of the muon monitor. The data were taken on Sep.11-12. This time, no saturation is observed. //(M.Sakuda)
