Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/08/05, 15:00-17:00, KEK library Conference Room, Present:K.Nishikawa(Chairman),Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida,T.Kobayashi,S.Mine, A.Sakai,M.Sakuda(KEK),M.Kohama,S.Echigo(Kobe),J.Breaut(UCI),E.Jeong,H.Lee, Y-S.Yan,I.Lim(Chonnam),D-G.Koo(SNU of Education),M.Nakamura(Niigata), S.Kadowaki(SUT), E-S.Suh, B-H.Kang(SNU) (1) Muon Lee/Jeong are studying the cosmic-ray data. Jeong requires a track to be inside the cell and calculates the efficiency. They find some errors for 30 out of 160 address modules. (2) LG Kobayashi reports that the setup for the cosmic-ray calibration is finished. DAQ system works now(Yasu/Sakai). They test the trigger system. The measurement starts next week. (3) SCIFI *Mine talks with Suzuno Co. over the proto-type detector. He ordered EL sheets and FIFO tips. He shows a preliminary design of the fiber bundle support. He also studies the efficiency for various gate width, 50-150 microsec. He will take data with 50 microsec again to check if the efficiency is as good as that for 100 microsec (default). *Echigo estimates the fake probability using source data to obtain the thickness of the separator between fiber ribbons. The probability is about 10% for a 200 micro-m thick separator. Questions->Calculate separator thickness vs the space from the edge, Cluster size vs pulse height. *Suh(SNU)/Sakuda studied how to check the surface quality of the fiber ends after being polished. By elluminating the electro-luminescent plate at one end and seeing the uniformity of the light yield at the other end by PMT with a collimating slit, they can check the surface quality within 20% accuracy. (4) VETO Nakamura checks the effect of divider and amplifier carefully to understand a strange double pulse. (5) Offline (Ishida) He studies the sensitivity to the oscillation parameters (delta-m^2, sin^2theta) with the latest SK Monte Carlo events. There, he considers the overall normalization, the uncertainty in the background and the uncertainty in the detection efficiency of the front neutrino spectrum. He obtains the contour plots at 90% and 3sigma CL levels. (6) mu-monitor Maruyama/Inagaki want to understand the saturation problem in the HV dependence. They will test the muon monitor at high intensity beam at Kyoto in September. (7) Report to Monbusho Nishikawa asks Japanese members to summarize the status of each subgroup within this week. **** A.T.Suzuki (Kobe group) reports (See his report on Aug.21 for details) that the fiber sheet production, 6 sheets per week, is established and is progressing very well. This is a very encouraging report. //(M.Sakuda)
