Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/06/27, 15:00-17:30, TV conference (KEK-ICRR), Present:K.Nishikawa(Chairman),Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida,T.Kobayashi,S.Mine, T.Inagaki,A.Sakai,M.Sakuda(KEK),T.Maruyama(Tohoku),AT.Suzuki,M.Kohama(Kobe), E.Jeong,H.Lee(Chonnam),E.Sharkey,B.Williams,R.Reese(SUNY),M.Nakamura(Niigata) M.Miura, Y.Itow(ICRR), T.Inada, S.Kadowaki(SUT) (1) Experimental hall (Nishikawa) *Reminder of the schedule for the hall Water supply ->98/09/01 12m^3/h, temporary supply possible 98/05/01. Electric power supply -> 98/10/01, temporary supply possible 98/04/01. Design of the concrete floor must be finished this fall; the construction begins in June, 1998. (2) Muon *Ishii/Jeong/Lee/Shiino/Tauchi finished 24 sets out of total 58 sets. (3) LG (Kobayashi) *Kobayashi ordered trigger counters to CI Co for the cosmic-ray test. Delivery in two weeks. (4)SCIFI *Kobe weekly report (A.Suzuki) They estimate the lifetime of the fiber to be 1200 days at 20deg. Tashiro is working on the laser sensor for the spooling machine. Aoki will check the uniformity of the EL sheet. *Mine reports on the cosmic-ray test. 1. Position calibration was finished. 2. Typical cosmic-ray event was shown. 3. Shiino checked the EL driver module. *Sharkey showed the analysis procedure for the position calibration using his clustering program. He is ready to complete the calibration table. *Sakuda asked the scifi members to return their comments on the agenda of the scifi talks on July 22-23 meeting. (5) Beam monitor *Maruyama summarized the performance of the mu-monitor prototype. The position resolution +-1mm or better, the intensity +-3%. They want to understand the saturation problem. *Inagaki compared the beam position (=center of gravity) of the mu-prototype with that of the profile monitor (=Reference). He has a problem with y-cable. He studied the response of the Current Transformer by injecting pulses with various shapes and at various positions. He observes the constant response which is proportional to the total charge. (6) Offline (Ishida) *He generated MC events using the latest SK-NEUT library. He reconstructed the nu_mu induced QE events following the Chikamatsu selection. He also looked at S/N in nu_e events after Kobayashi implemented LG simulation and found more background. (7) VETO Nakamura and Ohyama measured the time resolution of a 4.6m long counter at HV=2.0 and 2.5kV. They obtain 0.75ns time resolution now. They may need amplifiers or a new HV power supply. *SB.Kim(BU) will stay at KEK for 4 months from July 1. *July 8, 18:00, Party to celebrate the unification of KEK/INS. (M.Sakuda)
