Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/05/16, 15:00-16:30, KEK meeting room Present:C.MacGrew(SUNY),Y.Suzuki(ICRR),T.Ishii,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida,T.Kobayashi, S.Mine,T.Inagaki,A.Sakai,M.Sakuda(KEK),T.Maruyama(Tohoku),M.Nakamura(Niigata), T.Kadowaki,T.Inada(SUT),M.Kohama(Kobe) (1) Muon Ishii/Jeong/Li are testing the 3rd set. They need more man power. (2) SCIFI Sakuda reports; *Spec documents for Fiber Production and for Aluminum mirroring are being discussed with the help of Contract Division. *Chemical polishing with CHCl3 vapor after the diamont cutter is reported to improve the reflectivity (NIMA373,347). He is talking with ULVAC. Mine reports; *Supporting rack of the cosmic-ray test will be made next week. It will use 5 layers of fiber ribbons. *He designs the structure of the beam test. The size of the fiber sheet is 40cm x 40cm. *Echigo has a first version of the scifi clustering program. (3) Horn Kohama considers an alternative design for the innner conductor of the 2nd horn near the exit, hoping to increase the flux. (4) Beam monitor (Maruyama) Muon monitor a la Tanaka (15cmx15cm) will be tested at the Booster Facility on 5/20,27. Inagaki will measure the refractive index of the gas next week. They ask Hamamatsu to change the gain of multi-anode PMT to measure the large pulse-height. (5) LG Kobayashi trys to understand the xenon gain monitor and the geometry effect of the cosmic-ray data. Maruyama studies the LG response for 50MeV electrons using GEANT and check the linearity. (6) Offline MacGrew and Ishida try to install the software management software CVS, with which the update of the software becomes transparent and easy. (7) VETO Ohyama/Nakamura will test (1) LG HV power supply, (2) a cheep PMT and (3) a divider next week at Nikko. (8) 1kton Y.Suzuki explains the procedure of the installation of the tank. They build the support frame for PMTs inside the tank at the GND level; move the tank down to the experimental hall; install supermodules (2x2 PMTs) using a hoist. (9) DAQ Sakai reports that E362 and Online group discussed the first design of the network. FDDI from the computer center to the hub at Bulle Chamber Bldg. From there the optical fiber cables (Ethernet) will be distributed to Fron Detector, Beam Monitor, Target station etc. Question about speed was raised. //(M.Sakuda)
