Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/05/09, 15:30-18:00, KEK Library meeting room Present:K.Nishikawa,T.Ishii,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida,T.Kobayashi,S.Mine,T.Inagaki, A.Sakai,M.Sakuda(KEK),T.Maruyama(Tohoku),E.Jeong,H.Li(Chonnam), M.Nakamura(Niigata),T.Kadowaki,T.Inada(SUT) (1) Schedule Nishikawa shows the budget and schedule of the contracts for 1997-1998. The iron filters will be purchased in 1997 and the spec document must be finished in August. The contract for the installation is scheduled in April 1998. A part of MCP-CCD and HVsystem for scifi detector will be purchased this year. (2) Muon Ishii/Jeong/Li tested 32 modules of the muon chambers using cosmic-rays. They found one bad channel. Ishii shows how to isolate the chambers electronically from iron filters. *Structure meeting will be held on May 21,13:30, R307. (3) SCIFI *Kurary will send a new (final) sample to Kobe at the beginning of June. As soon as the lifetime of the fiber turns out to be long enough, Kurary will start the full production, hopefully in July. *Sakuda considers two ways of making a sheet module. One is to use an 1-2mm thick G10 sheet and the other is to use a honecomb panel. In both cases the fiber sheet will be glued on it. *Mine checked that 100.6mm(H)x89.4mm(V) of the IIT wondow is seen by CCD. He also studies the cluster size of the hit with respect to the fiber position. He shows the set-up of the cosmic-ray test in which the reconstruction of the track and the spatial resulution etc will be studied. He also shows the schedule of the electron beam test with the proto-type detector at INS in Oct-Nov. *Ishida studies the noise hit on a test fiber sheet. He estimates 0.85 hit/ layer for a real detector. He also improves the display of scifi hits (IIview, developed by Etoh) and studies a cluster identification. *SCIFI informal meeting is held every Tuesday, 9:00am at R307. (4) Beam monitor *Inagaki reports the results of the beam test with multi-anode PMT. The purpose of the test was to compare the pulse-height (=the number of Chrenkov photons) with that expected from the calculation. The radiator was a prism lens. The measured pulse-heights agree with the calculated values within +-15%. *Maruyama prepares for the beam test of the ionization chamber (by Tanaka) at Booster. (5) VETO/Trigger counters Nakamura reports on the status of the veto. He made one divider module. Nakamura/Ohyama consider covering trigger counters only top and downstream of the SCIFI detector in order to save money. (6) LG (TV conference between KEK and Niigata(Kenmochi), 17:00-18:00) Kobayashi reports on the analysis of the cosmic-ray calibration. Kenmochi reports on the beam test with electron beams. The pulse heights by xenon flash lamp can be used to track the time variation of each counter, but their absolute values vary by 50%; they cannot be used for absolute calibration. Details will be reported in LG minutes by Kobayashi soon. *May 16 (Friday), 13:30, Seminar at KEK seminar hall by Y. Suzuki (ICRR), "New results from SuperKamiokande". //(M.Sakuda)
