Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/04/15, 13:00- , R307 Present:K.Nakamura,K.Nishikawa,T.Ishii,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida,T.Kobayashi, S.Mine,T.Inagaki,A.Sakai,M.Sakuda(KEK),M.Kohama(Kobe),T.Maruyama(Tohoku) Since April 1, 1997, KEK and INS were merged into one organization, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK). The previous physics department becomes a new institute, Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies (IPNS). (1) Xenon system Maruyama/Inagaki prepared the xenon flash lamp system for the lead glass counters. The purpose of the system is to monitor the gain of each LG counter. They observed the good correlation between Am-NaI signal and the xenon lamp signal. (2) Lead Glass (Kobayashi) He compared the pulse heights of 9 blocks for cosmic rays data and for electron beam data. When the data are normalized by electron beams, there are 10% variations among 9 blocks for cosmic rays. We need 5% accuracy. (This turns out to be due to the geometry. It is solved now.) The beam test of 9 LG blocks with xenon system will begin next Tuesday. (3) Pion monitor Inagaki explained the procedure of the beam test for a multi-channel PMTs, which will be used for pion monitor. They inject an electron into a small piece of prism lens to produce Cherenkov light, 0.9 photons. They will measure the detection efficiency next week. (4) Muon chamber They completed the tension measurement for all chambers. Mine found 7 bad wires out of 390x8 long chambers. (5) SCIFI *Mine studied the separation of two clusters using beta-ray data. 1.5mm-2mm. *IIT will come back to KEK this week. *KEK-Boston TV meeting on April 16, 9:00-> *SCIFI group meeting on April 21, 15:00->, Bldg.3, 2nd floor, conference room. (6) Offline Ishida distributed an offline memo showing the status. ***** E362 collaboration meeting ***** April 22, 9:00, KEK Seminar Hall. //(M.Sakuda)
