Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/03/11, 19:00-21:30, R307 Present:K.Nishikawa(Chairman),T.Ishii,T.Chikamatsu(INS),M.Nakamura(Niigata), K.Nakamura,M.Sakuda,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida(KEK),E-M.Jeong(Chonnam),T.Echigo(Kobe) (1) SCIFI Echigo reports on the performance of an (xx) sheet detector. *Cosmic rays are suppressed in the beta-ray trigger down to 0.3% level. *CCD-Fiber calibration-> 0.135mm/pixel. *The detection efficiency of >99% is obtained even near the edge (R=49mm) of the IIT (horizontal direction). The detection efficiency of 95% is obtained for an (x) layer on the average. The incident position is L=3m from IIT. Noise level is 0.5%. *The cluster size of the (xx) sheet is measured to be Sigma=0.55mm. *He will measure the vertical aperture this week. *Kobe group reports that a new fiber sample from Kurary shows a 10 times longer lefetime than the original SCSF78M sample. The ageing problem is almost solved. Kurary did their own measurement and confirmed it. *A spec document for aluminum coating is done and is distributed to several companies. (2) Offline *Nakamura studies the position dependence of the electron identification criteria in SCIFI. *Ishida implemented into the MC simulation the pulse height and path length in the scifi sheet. He uses the real data obained in the (xx) sheet. He also takes into account the cluster size (about 2mm) of the scifi. He shows a preliminary result with the simulation. (3) Muon (Ishii) *They lacks in the man power, especially in April. Please help. (4) VETO (Ohyama) *He sent 3 scintillators and 5 PMTs over to Korea. He will borrow all electronics modules necessary for veto system. (5) Expeimental hall (Nishikawa) *Muon: Ishii considers installing the chambers directly from the ground level to the detector using a crane to save time and space. *Scifi need the assemby space at the bottom (>5m x 5m). *Nishikawa asks other groups about it at Kamioka this week. **March 13-14: Super-Kamiokande on-site analysis meeting (Kamioka, ICRR) //(M.Sakuda)
