Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/03/04, 19:00-21:00, KEK library meeting room, Present:K.Nishikawa(Chairman),T.Ishii,A.Sakai,T.Inagaki(INS), K.Nakamura,M.Sakuda,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida(KEK),T.Maruyama(Tohoku), S-H.Ahn(Korea) E-M.Jeong(Chonnam),M.Kohama,T.Echigo(Kobe) (1) Expeimental hall meeting (Nakamura,Satoh,Nishikawa) A cylindrical hall is likely as compared to a square-shape hall. **Each group must tell Nishikawa by next week how many area are needed for the assembly space or electronics hut etc!! (2) Beam monitor Maruyama shows a new design of the pion monitor placed after the 2nd horn. It is a gas (Isobutane) Cherenkov counter (L=1.2m). Photons are reflected by a conical mirror and focused onto a face of multi-anode PMTs covering 2cm x 10 cm area. One MA-PMT covers 2cm x 2cm area, which are seen by 16ch anodes (5mmx5mm). The detector covers about 4degrees in phi. He shows the correlation between each anode signal and the angle/momentum of the pion. Using this correlation he can predict the flux at FD with 9% accuracy and the flux ratio SK/FD with accuracy of 5.4%. Once a month the detector will move into the beam-line, perform the measurement and move back since the radiation level is too high. (3) SCIFI *Echigo shows that the luminescence plate can indeed fire the Al-coated fiber. Calibration will be done this way. *He now starts the measurement of the position dependence of IIT etc. He shows a preliminary result on the cluster size, 1sigma=0.5mm. *Sakuda reports: Spec document for fibers is done; Washington group will make a portable milling cutter; S-B.Kim will stay at KEK for Jun 1-Oct 1 ; we start discussing a spec document for aluminum coating for fibers. (4) Muon (Ishii) *Tension measurement of long chambers is progressing. So far 6 broken wires. *Chikamatsu and Ishii will meet with Teisan Co and discuss the gas supply and piping. (5) VETO (Ohyama) *Ahn and Ohyama packed scintillators and PMTs. They will send them to Korea. *Ohyama tests the TMC module. *DAQ meeting > March 6, 13:30 *JPS rehearsal is scheduled on March 18, 15:00-. Kohama, Maruyama, Etoh, Nakamura and Echigo will give a talk at JPS (3/28-31). //(M.Sakuda)
