97/02/1 Sat., 11:00-17:00, @Kobe Univ. Present:K.Nishikawa(INS),K.Nakamura,M.Sakuda,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida(KEK), K.Nishijima,M.Etoh(Tokai),T.Hara,S.Aoki,AT.Suzuki,S.Echigo,K.Tashiro(Kobe) (1)Etoh & Echigo reported the light yield measurement of a SCIFI sheet with PMT & IIT and the performance of the IIT. They get enough detection efficiency(~99%) with low noise contumination(<0.5%). The reflectivity of the spattering mirror at the fiber edge is 67%. We have to and can improve it a little. (2)Tashiro summarized the SCIFI aging measurement at Kobe Univ. Life time of Al coated fiber is about 3 times longer than that of bare one. We cannot see apparent aging effect at 40 centigrade or in nitrogen at 70 centigrade from ~70 day measurements. (3)Aoki showed the IIT chain design. (4)Sakuda reported the current status of the drum fabrication, Al spattering at Kawai Optics Co., the structure design and construction of the SCIFI detector with Boston Univ., etc. (5)Suzuki,AT reported the present status of the fiber spooling machine construction. The schedule was also shown. (6)We should pack SCIFI sheets in vacuum for storage until the installation. Hara showed the way of vacuum packing. (7)Nishikawa showed the budget of FY1997. We must reduce the cost. (8)Some problems to be solved: *Light yield ---> We can get enogh light yeald with the 0.7mm diameter fiber. *Fiber edge milling(readout side) We have to do in the experimental hall. ---> We need a portable milling machine. *Fiber tracker & water container assembling ---> We need R&D. *The 2nd fiber spooling machine ---> pending Best regards, Atsumu Suzuki
