Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 97/01/14, 19:00-21:00, KEK library meeting room, Present:K.Nishikawa,T.Ishii,T.Chikamatsu,A.Sakai,T.Kobayashi,T.Inagaki(INS), M.Kohama,S.Echigo(Kobe),M.Sakuda,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida(KEK),T.Maruyama(Tohoku), M.Etoh(Tokai),I-T.Lim,E-M.Jeong,K-J.Ma(Chonnam) (1) Horn Kohama calculates the flux at various horn currents. He expects 10% more flux at 300kA than that at 250kA although the second horn cannot accept 300kA due to the mechanical stress. He also calculates the flux at various disatances between the first and the second horn. The present value is good. (2) TOF (Ohyama) He asks Suzuno Co to estimate the cost when re-using the existing light pipes. (3) DAQ Sakai estimates the number of racks necessary for the electronics-hut to be about 13. He also updates the estimation of the data size, 16kbytes/spill. (4) SCIFI *Ishida checks the beam intensity of pi/proton/e at T1 (0.5-2GeV/c) and pi2 (1-4GeV/c) beam lines. Since he is interested in the electron identification with the scifi detector, he will consider INS e- beam. Sakuda comments that the proto-type detector will be completed around June. *Sakuda summarizes the meeting with Hamamatsu on Jan 14 (Nishikawa,Sakuda, Etoh,Echigo). Hamamatsu points out that the quantum efficiency of IIT that we have now is higher (25%) than the standard one (22+-2%). We must increase the light yield by at least 20% in order to keep the present performance (99%). -->A larger fiber diameter, an aluminum coated fiber, silicon oil contact between fibers and IIT, quality of the reflectivity at one end of fibers etc. Etoh/Echigo showed the detection efficiency is down by 1-2% toward the edge of IIT face. Hamamatsu checks the uniformity of lens within this month. They do not think this is due to the non-uniformity of photo cathode. However, they will measure the uniformity of the IIT photocathode for 5 IITs being produced. They show the first design of the HV system. The design of the MCP-CCD+HV system must be finished in June 1997. *Etoh/Echigo will measure the reflectivity within this month for the sample which Kawai Optics Co supplied. *BU group sent us a memo on the design of the water container. Please read it and return any comments to Sakuda. S.Kim will visit KEK soon to discuss it. ***SCIFI group meeting will be held at Kobe on Feb 1 to discuss the schedule of the scifi detector. (5) Muon detector (Ishii) *Leak test is finished. *Tension measurement of short chambers (previously called F/B chambers) -80% done. All wires (400x8) are good except for only two wires! They are preparing for the cosmic ray test. *Tension measurement for long chambers will start in February. It will be done at the east-counter hall after the Horn will have been moved. *They have three collaborators from Channam, I.Lim, K.Ma and E.Jeong. Shift members are Ishii,Mine,Shiino,Inagaki,Lim,Ma and Jeong. (6) LG (Kobayashi) *Beam test with 3x3 blocks is scheduled for Jan.28-Feb.1. Inagaki,Kobayashi, two students (Kenmochi et al) from Niigata will go to INS next week. DAQ system is being tested. *HV cables for all LG blocks have been ordered. Signal connectors will be delivered in Feb. LEMO cables will be supplied by ICRR. Fibers for the xenon lamp have been ordered. *Taino considers doing the calibration for 600 blocks inside the tent house. (7) Analysis (Chikamatsu) *He will distribute the documentation of the detector simulation within a week. He sets up an example program and a set of library in /home2/E362/. *He shows a concrete set-up of 900 mudules of the muon detector. He says that we should use 5m long chambers for the last few layers since high energy muons tend to go in the forward direction. (8) Beam monitor Inagaki (and Maruyama) begins the gain calibration of a 16ch multi-anode PMT using LED. Since he hardly locates the 1p.e. peak, he will use amplifiers. //(M.Sakuda)
