Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting

(1) Muon chambers 
*Ishii summarizes the shift work:They fixed the gas leak of 18 modules out of
 40 bad modules. Jeong shows the data of gas leak rate for all chambers. 
 Gas circulation system will be tested on 11/2 with Nakano's help.
*Rin-ei has changed the oscillator tips for 900 boards. Mine will check 
 these boards at INS. He presented how the testing, e.g. the linearity 
 the gate timing and the threshold, proceeds.   
*Inagaki checks the buffer modules.
*Ishii arranges the speakers of muon chamber system.

(2) SCIFI
*Etoh continues the measurement of the detection efficiency with IIT.
 He will summarizes the SCIFI detector efforts at the collab meeting.
*Echigo measures the light yield of fiber ribbons with one end coated by
 aluminum. He obserevs 50% more light yield at the distance of 260cm from
 PMT. He will report the details of ageing effects at the collab meeting.
*Kurary measures the ageing effects of SCSF78M fiber in air and in vacuum.
 Both results from Kobe and Kurary show that we need to store fiber bobbins 
 in oxygen-free environment. 
*End plates of the water containers made of aluminum cells are being assembled
 at Suzuno Co. 
*SuzukiAT/Kawai are designing a larger drum for the fiber spooling machine.
 
(3) Horn DC current test
Kohama will finish wiring the thermometers and strain gauges this weekend and
test the readout system next week. Horn DC test is scheduled in early November.

(4) Analysis
*Chikamatsu shows the track reconstruction efficiency in SCIFI detector 
 and concludes that it is uniform over |x|,|y|<L-20cm, where 2L (=3m) is
 the detector size in x-y direction. He will report it at the collab meeting.
*Ishida tries to store the GEANT-generated events on disk using the bank
 system. This will save CPU significantly. He will summarize the electron 
 identification using LG and SCIFI at the collab meeting. 
*Sakuda selected 10K protons of 0.4<p<1.2 GeV/c using TOF counters 
 from VENUS data and showed the LG response for protons as a function of p.

(5) Beams
 Maruyama checks the cost of a new xenon flash lamp system which will be used
 for beam monitor as well as LG system. He will present the properties of 
 neutrino beams at the collab meeting. 

Others:
*Maruyama will supervise the evacuation of a room in Nikko on 10/23.
 Please help. 
*Ishida/Sakuda will remove 96 TOF counters from VENUS this week.
*First rehearsal talk for the collab meeting->10/25, 19:00->
*First writeup of SCIFI detector (Nishijima/Etou et al) and TOF counter(Oyama)
 was distributed last week.
