Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting 96/10/15, 19:00 - 20:30, KEK library meeting room, Present:K.Nishikawa,T.Ishii,T.Chikamatsu,T.Kobayashi,S.Mine,A.Sakai,T.Inagaki (INS), M.Sakuda,Y.Ohyama,T.Ishida(KEK),T.Maruyama(Tohoku),E.Jeong(Chonnam), M.Kohama(Kobe),M.Etoh(Tokai),M.Nakamura(Niigata) (1) Muon chambers (Ishii/Chikamatsu) *Ishii summarizes the shift work:all of the electronics boards were removed. These boards will be checked at INS. Jeong summarizes the data of gas leak rate for all chambers. There are 36 chambers which show the gas leak rate >1cc/min. They will fix the leak using RTV. *Saan Co. estimates the cost of overhaul of the gas circulation system to be about 3,000,000yen. *Ishii reported the ventillation system and gas circulation system at the safety committee on Oct.14. *Rin-ei has changed the oscillator tips for 400 boards. (Mine) (2) LG calibration (Kobayashi) They will purchase 68K40FPI for the readout of FASTBUS-ADC. Tamura and his student will measure the cosmic ray rate and the response of LG. He shows how the calibration proceeds. First, he measures the energy response for 9 blocks using 1 GeV electron beam. Then, the relative gain calibration will be performed for all modules using cosmic-ray muons. He designs the structure of the calibration system and the hodescope (1.2m x 1.5m). (3) SCIFI *Etoh continues the measurement of the detection efficiency for the fiber ribbon (xx) viewed by IIT-MCP-CCD. Sakai helps the readout problem. Sakuda reports: *Fujino updates the design of the proto-type scifi structure. *Kawai Optics Co. will design the system to put the aluminum vapor onto one end of fiber ribbons of the real detector. Estimated cost is <7,000,000yen. Etoh will measure the reflectivity of the mirrored fiber ribbon soon. *Considering the measurement of ageing effects on SCSF78M by Kobe group, we must figure out how to store fiber bobbins in nitrogen gas when they are delivered. Use of vacuum pack (used to store the bedding) is suggested. The real SCIFI detector will be kept in the nitrogen gas too. (4) Horn DC current test Kohama need help for wiring the thermometers and strain gauges around the Horn two weeks from now. Horn DC current test is scheduled in early November. Others: *Nishikawa proposes to have the digitizer modules of the fine grain detector at the bottom of the hall. Then, the analog cables can be short. *Nakamura will present the E362 experiment at ICFA meeting at KEK on 10/17. *Nishikawa will present the E362 experiment at KEK Topical conference on 10/31. *At the next weekly meeting those who live around KEK and will give a talk at the collab. meeting will show the abstract of their talk. //(M.Sakuda)
