Minutes of E362 FD weekly meeting

(1) A new postdoc Shun-ichi Mine (INS) is introduced. 
  
(2) Muon chambers (Ishii) 
*Ishii explained the muon chamber system at the safety committee meeting today.
 Nakamura explained the experimental hall.
*Shift work will start tomorrow: remove all electronics boards and
 complete the leak test. It takes 3 weeks.
*Tauchi finished the test of 400 electronics boards. About 20 need repairing.
 Others work. 
*Ishii will decide where to place the gas circulation system.

(3) Beam 
*Maruyama calculates the flux of nu_mu and nu_e using 4 hadron
 simulators: (1) GHEISHA (CERN95a), (2) GHEISHA (CERN94a), (3) FLUKA and
 (4) GCALOR. (1) and (2) uses Sanford-Wang pi-production model.
 He finds 12-15% difference in the nu_mu flux calculations (1)-(4).
 Sanford-Wang model and FLUKA model make only 3% difference in flux.  
*Inagaki/Maruyama study various candidates for Cherenkov light detector,
 CdS, multi-anode PMT, Photo-diode, CCD etc. CdS is not good. 
 They must have a feasible design next month.

(4) LG calibration 
Kobayashi ordered the four hodoscopes, each covering 150mmx150mm area. 
He will also consider the LG installation and the support structure.

(5) Experimental hall
Nakamura showed the second version of the hall design, which is rectangular.
Meeting with KawaJyu Co on muon structure -> Sept 30, 15:00.

(6) SCIFI
Sakuda shows the endplate design for the R&D aluminum cells. 
Veto counters and the support structure for IITs must be designed soon.
BU group sent us a short write-up for SCIFI structure. Please comment.

Others:
*Meeting with Inouhachi Co on disassembling TOF counters this week.
*Transfer 1kton tank from the present position to another place close to our
 experimental hall (Taino et al.) -> September 28-29. 
*US members are finishing off a US proposal to DoE.
