E362 weekly meeting At KEK R202, April 26(Fri), 15:00-17:00 Present:Chikamatsu,Sakai(INS),Ohyama,Sugaya,Sakuda(KEK),Nishijima(Tokai) (1) All attendants like the weekly meeting starting at 15:00 every Tuesday. -> In response to Nishikawa's request. (2) On May 10 we will have the E362 collaboration meeting to welcome freshmen. Ohyama will prepare for the meeting. People from accelerator and beam-channel will join too. Party after the meeting. (3) Chikamatsu studies the effects of position resolutions (sigma_x=1.3mm, 2.6mm and 5mm) of the muon chambers on the neutrino energy reconstruction. He also reports on the first meeting with Mitsui-shipbuilding Co. on the structure (April 25, Sakuda, Chikamatsu). (4) Ohyama reports the analysis of the Super-K Monte Carlo events. (E362 memo) (a) Can quasi-elastic events be selected at Super-K?? The result of the visual scanning is "yes". QE's can be selected with ~90% efficiency and the background contamination of ~30%. If pi-mu-e decays are used, the background may be reduced to 20% level. He will produce the figure of the muon energy distribution for 200 events. (b) Can NC events (nu_mu + p ->nu_mu + p, nu_mu + n ->nu_mu + n) be selected?? He expects about 30 events for each reaction for 10**20 POT. They can be used for the beam normalization. (5) The work on the muon chambers at the Fuji hall is scheduled on May 20-21, 9:00-17:00. Please help. Sakuda will give a rehearsal talk "Front detector design" for the KEK seminar on May 2, 15:00. KEK seminar is scheduled at 16:00-17:00 on May 7. //
