E362 weekly meeting At KEK R307, April 19(Fri), 17:30-19:00 Present:Chikamatsu,Sakai(INS),Ohyama,Sugaya,Sakuda(KEK),Kohama(kobe),Etou(Tokai) (1) Oyama distributes a manual on how to generate Monte Carlo events with Super-K detector using KEK-ccps workstation. He generates 10000 nu_mu events and puts those 300 events through GEANT simulation. He will prepare at least 1000 events. He also applied to the Radiation Safety Center for the permission to use a new container-house next to Minami-tateya for SCIFI test. It is ok. (2) Etou distributes the memo summarizing his talk at JPS meeting(3/31/96): *E362 memo, M.Etou, "Optimization of SCIFI tracker", April 19,1996. Hamamatsu taught us how to use IIT-HV system on April 15-16. He will measure the light yield for new fibers (0.7mmD multi-clad etc) with PMT readout at the new container-house in May. Test with IIT readout in June. (3) Chikamatsu reports the activity of INS muon chamber group(Ishii et al). Bench test at INS in May-June and cosmic-ray test at KEK from July. They will change the oscillator tip of the frontend electronics from 40MHz to 20MHz. Chikamatsu is responsible for the optimization of the muon detector using GEANT simulation. For example, iron thickness, position resolution, how to arrange 3m, 5m and 8m long chambers and so on. (4) Sakai shows the scheme of data acquisition system: *E362 memo, A. Sakai, "DAQ of KEK-PS E362", April 19,1996. He will work on DAQ in collaboration with Sasaki and the KEK online group. Itow will bring a VME module to KEK and Aoki will send us a NIM module for IIT readout at the end of April. Sakai is a manager of the network/computers for E362. Anyone who wants to use a new terminal or a network at KEK must talk to him. (5) Sakuda/Taino must finish within next week the specification document for the disassembling of the Barrel muon chambers and Iron filters. The present CCD can see only 70mmx70mm area of IIT face(100mmD). Hamamatsu will send us an improved design within this month. 4/22(Mon) 13:30: Meeting with Delft. 4/23(Tues) 9:00~: Take 100 PMTs from TOPAZ. 4/25(Thurs) : Meeting with Mitui-shipbuilding on the structure (muon/iron/LG). Sakuda will give a talk on the front detector design at KEK seminar on May 7 (Tuesday). Please help. (6) Today, we had a physics-accelerator joint meeting. 3 topics were reported by the accelerator group: (i) They will replace 38 Q-B junction chambers and BPMs during this summer. This may reduce the beam loss during the transition energy. (ii) They will correct for the alignment of the magnets in the main ring. (iii) They want to replace the quadrapole magnet upstream of septum-C magnet (=extraction) by a new one with wide aperture. // ------------------------ I attach the previous 2 E362 minutes. E362 weekly meeting At KEK, April 6, 17:30-19:00 Present: Nishikawa (Chairman), Sakai (INS), Sasaki, Oyama, Sugaya, Sakuda(KEK) (1) Hardware schedule Muon chambers/Iron filters...June-July. Lead glass counters stored in the tent-house. A new drum will be completed in June. A IIT-HV system delivered. (2) E362 will have several freshmen: A.Sakai (INS postdoc), Mine (INS postdoc), Inagaki (INS M1), Sugaya (KEK postdoc), T. Ishida (KEK Research Associate from June 1). (3) Nishikawa designs the second horn now. He will also study the beam monitor system. (4) Sakuda suggests a possible method to extrapolate the beam to SuperK and estimate the systematic error in a quatitative way. No one knows how it works. // ------------------- E362 weekly meeting At KEK R307, March 22, 13:30-19:30 Present: Nishikawa (Chairman),Chikamatsu,Ishii(INS),Nakamura,Ohyama,Sasaki, Sakuda(KEK,memo),Etou(Tokai),Tamura,Nakamura(Niigata),Aoki,Kohama(Kobe) (1) Chikamatsu studies the effects of muon chamber resolutions (sigma_x= 1mm-10mm) on the neutrino energy reconstruction. (2) Aoki explains the readout system of fibers-IIT-CCD-NIM-VME. The point is the design of VME module when the data size is many (100kwords). Sasaki recommends block transfer. Sasaki will design the general scheme of DAQ system for this experiment. (3) Ishii took 3 muon chambers to INS and will set up the test system. (4) Tamura explains the estimation of the Cherenkov light yield from 2cm thick water. (5) 3 rehearsal talks for the comming JPS meeting on March 31. Kohama (Horn cooling test), Nakamura (Lead glass counters), Etou (SCIFI). ------------------ E362 weekly meeting At KEK, March 29 -> Rehearsal talks for Etou and Nakamura //
