Minutes of E362 weekly meeting At KEK R307, March 8, 18:00-20:30 Present: Nishikawa (Chairman),Chikamatsu(INS),Nakamura,Ohyama,Sakuda(KEK), Nishijima,Etou (Tokai),Nakamura (Niigata),C.K. Jung (Stony Brook) (1) Nakamura (KEK) announces that the budget for the neutrino beam line has been officially approved for 1996/1997. Detailed construction schedule (1996-1999) is shown. The experiment will begin in September 1998 and continue for the next three years, depending on the JHP project. Note: On March 6 at the Accelerator/Physics meeting, the decision was made to choose the fast extraction scheme (1 micro sec) rather than the resonant extraction (100 micro-sec). (2) Jung discusses the merits of using the D0 triangular scintillator strips/WLS for the front detector. Sigma-x=0.6mm for normal incidence, light yield=25photons/mm (using mirrored fiber). They will build a proto-type detector by September. We prepare the readout (1 IIT etc). The status of US proposal to DOE: Gajewski is the editor. Items=Veto counters, beam monitors, Scintillator strips/WLS etc. (3) Nakamura (Niigata) reports his Monte Carlo study for nu_e/nu_mu measurement. Selection criteria:(i) 2 tracks in SCIFI, one of them connected to LG, (ii) No muon chamber hits, (iv) kinematics of quasi-elastics and (v) LG energy cut. He finished (i-iii). (4) Etou re-estimates the required number of fibers/IITs for the real experiment. The light yield and attenuation length analysis is also reported. Note: Forward/backward muon chambers (500 pieces x 8 wires), Lead-glass counters with PMTs (1200 blocks) and 100 PMTs (Hamamatsu H1949) for trigger/veto counters were taken from the TRISTAN experiment and stored to the garage. \\(memo by sakuda) ----Distributed to -------- nishikaw, "ishii@insux1.ins.u-tokyo.ac.jp",chikamat, "miyamoto@ieux01.ins.u-tokyo.ac.jp", kenzo, kanzaki, oyamay, sakuda, sosamu, minoru, ieiri,"miyano@ngthep.hep.sc.niigata-u.ac.jp",tamuran, "SOBEL@MASTER.PS.UCI.EDU", gajewski, "chiaki@sbhep.physics.sunysb.edu",suzukia, "totsuka@jpnutins.bitnet", "suzuki@icrkm4.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "koshio@icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "masato@icrkm4.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "itow@suketto.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "sakai@icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "kajita@icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "nakahata@icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp", "inoue@icrkm4.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp","kaneyuki@phys.titech.ac.jp", "thara@kobe-u.ac.jp", "aoki@kobe-u.ac.jp", "SUZUKI@PHYS01.PHYS.KOBE-U.AC.JP", NIWA, asai, miuram, kohama,"kyosi@tkikam.sp.u-tokai.ac.jp", "masayuki@tkikam.sp.u-tokai.ac.jp","alpinist@sbhep.physics.sunysb.edu", "jimhill@sksol1.physics.sunysb.edu, KEKUX::"b42128a@nucc.cc.nagoya-u.ac.jp" --------------------------
