• Prof. Michael Dennin has received the "Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research" for distinguished accomplishment in fostering undergraduate research. He has also been named a Cottrell Scholar by the Research Corporation for a combination of teaching and research.
• Congratulations to William H. Parker, who has been appointed Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of Graduate Education.

• Congratulations to Alex Maradudin and Gaurang Yodh, who have been elected Fellows of the Institute of Physics (UK) and have been granted the title of Chartered Physicist.

• Tammy Bosler has ben awarded a two-year fellowship from the ARCS Foundation (Orange County Chapter). She is one of five awardees from UCI's Schools of Physical Sciences and Engineering .
